The formation of a Central Islip Fire Department Softball Team to participate in the Islip Town Volunteer Firefighter’s Softball League was originally proposed to the Department for approval in early 1981.The team was officially organized for the 1982 season and did well, finishing with a record of 11 wins and 5 losses. In 1986 the team won its first Islip Town V.F.S.L. Championship with a victory over the Islip F.D. Their second Islip Town Championship was won in 1988 when the Team posted an undefeated record of 17 wins and 0 losses, continuing through the playoffs at 4 wins and 0 losses, this represented a combined total of 21 wins and 0 losses for the season. The Team’s third Islip Town Championship followed in 1989 with a 1-0 victory over the Bohemia F.D. in a game that went 16 innings.By the completion of the 1991 season, the Team’s overall record stood at 200 wins and 45 losses, having posted Divisional Championships consecutively since 1985 (7 in a row). Throughout the years, and up to the present time, the Team has always posted an annual winning record. In 2002, the fourth League Championship was captured, and the fifth was won in 2004. |
